Winter is coming.... to Adelaide

Hello!

My apologies for the post title. I wanted to do a blog post about the cold weather and of course "Winter is Coming" is all I could think of. I don't even like Game of Thrones. I seem to be on my own with that opinion though so I will just accept that I have terrible taste in TV shows. Yes, TV shows. I haven't read the books either. But I hear they are very good so I promise to try them. Wow. I think it would have been easier to just not use the post title I did. I feel all defensive now.

Moving on.

How cold and dark is it in Adelaide at the moment? I know it was sunny today, and for quite a bit of yesterday but still. Cold sometimes! I can't remember being this freaked out by daylights savings turning back. Is it because I am now in my 30s and I notice weather more? Is it a slippery slope to watching the Weather Channel nonstop and commenting on gales in some remote part of New South Wales that I have never visited, and probably never will?

Anyway. It's cold. And dark. And I have photo evidence.

Here are my photos! Notice how most of them are from my lounge room. That's because I don't venture out in the rain. I've discovered a new favourite pastime since moving to the city. Watching people run from the rain.

Rainy and dark

Rainy and not so dark

A random addition from my weekend Fleurieu visit

Not rainy and not dark. Grey though.
Oh and here is a bonus photo of my umbrella. I bought it in Poland last July. Everytime I use it I stare at everyone who passes by, waiting for someone to grab my arm and ask where I got that gorgeous umbrella. No one has yet. If you happen to see me out and about please ask. Just so I can say "Poland" and feel very worldly.

Mulberry Farm Sculpture Trail, Yankalilla

Hello!

This past weekend I was visiting family on the Fleurieu Peninsula and fortunately my visit coincided with the Leafy Sea Dragon festival.

Mulberry Farm at Yankalilla had a fantastic sculpture trail around their property and, of course, I had my camera in hand to capture it.

The festival has finished for this year and it's a biannual event. The Fleurieu is such a beautiful part of South Australia and there are lots of little galleries, cafes and boutiques open all year so it's always worth a visit!

Here are just some of the amazing pieces that were featured at the Mulberry Farm sculpture walk.

Sitting Figure by Egbert Wellmann - mild steel
On Reflection by Stephen Skillitzi - fused glass

Slaters Composting in the Moonlight by Raylene Meandering - mixed media and yacca leaves

will you Myth me when I'm gone by Laurie Lever - recycled floral art bricks and epoxy resin

Amazing aren't they?

Bungala House, Yankalilla

Hello!

Bungala House is a beautiful old home in the picturesque town of Yankalilla on the Fleurieu Penisnsula. It was recently open to the public as part of the Leafy Sea Dragon Festival and I had the pleasure of visiting and seeing the house and the grounds.

It's a beautiful property and is home to a Fleurieu artist, Mark Pearse and his wife Jill. Mark does amazing work with pottery including teapots, garden statues and bird baths.

Here are just a few of the photos I took on my visit.

Isn't it amazing?! The Leafy Sea Dragon festival is now finished for this year but keep an eye out for other Fleurieu events that include Bungala House. It's definitely worth the drive to see!

My photoblog post on Already Home

Hello!

I've been busy preparing a photoblog for Adelaide Council's Already Home project. Already Home is a fantastic collection of stories, photos and news from around Adelaide. It's a great site and you can easily spend a lot of time mosey-ing around there!

For my photoblog I chose the theme "Little Surprises". I had a lot of fun putting it together and I hope you will go check it out!

Photos of Buildings in Adelaide

Hey, you know what's cool? Buildings. And we have some very cool ones here in Adelaide.

Do you like buildings? Have any favourites around our city? Or perhaps you are from another city/town/suburb and have a favourite? Let me know.

Share the building love!

Here are some I quite like.

P.S. How creative is my blog post title?

P.P.S. Speaking of comments, my stats show I had actual visitors to my last post. So yay, thanks for visiting! Please say hello. ....If you feel like it. Or even if you don't!

All Kinds of Wonderful

Hello lovelies!

Ok, so we're off to a good start. It only took me 2 months to get around to writing a second blog post. Nice!

I'm going to vow to do more regular updates. Mainly because I've started this blog now and I feel determined to actually do something with it. Not that anyone is really reading it are they? Echo, echo! I have seen my stats page and from what I could understand, it's not pretty. If you do happen to be reading this, feel free to say hello. In fact, please say hello. #beggingisattractive

Flowers!
See these flowers above? They were a last minute discounted purchase. I used to like evening walks with my partner but now I LOVE evening walks with my partner. Instead of lovely relaxing ocean views, I now have lovely relaxing "OMG the shops are shutting and there are discounts!!!" moments. City living = shopping!

Yum
Have you been to the Howling Owl on Frome St? It's next to Urban Cow and has lovely coffee. Above is my coffee (see the loveliness?) and a pistachio cannoli. Oh my. That cannoli was fabulous. Go. Try it. And then report back so we can daydream about cannoli and coffee together.

Chocolate People

Have you been to the new Rundle Place? It's very fancy and at the moment has an amazing walk in wardrobe scene made from chocolate. It smells and looks incredible! Definitely worth a visit. Try and eat it and report back. I want to know what happens. *Disclaimer - if you are arrested or anything I will deny all knowledge of this blog post.

That's it! Hopefully it won't take me another two months to update this blog.

Much love,
Adelaide Hare xo
